10 Mindset Techniques that my Pro MMA fighter client is mastering that you should also be crushing in your online business

One of my clients won the biggest fight of his Pro MMA career this weekend. To say I'm proud is an understatement.

Here are 10 mindset techniques that my Pro MMA fighter client is mastering that you should also be crushing in your online business (or if you’re athlete, this shit is universal! 😎

  1. Get comfortable with the idea of failure instead of pretending it doesn't exist. The fear of failure is often heavier than the failure itself, so once we shift how you feel about and perceive failure, we release some serious pressure around how you perform consistently. Stop running from it. Embrace it as part of the game and something that always makes you better.

  2. Relentlessly see failure as NOT an option. Once my client got comfortable with potentially not winning the biggest fight of his career (even though that's obviously not what he wanted!), he made sure his mental focus was always laser-directed toward what he wanted to happen instead of letting fear of loss take up precious real estate in his mind and sabotage his performance.

  3. Get obsessive with your self-talk. The way you speak to yourself matters…massively. So many athletes beat themselves up for making mistakes instead of choosing to see them as golden learning opportunities. The more you beat yourself up, the shittier you'll feel. And the shittier you feel, the worse you'll perform. Choose to relentlessly be kind (but real), supportive (but challenging), and laser-focused on your desired outcome when it comes to your internal dialogue, and you'll be steps ahead of the competition.

  4. Use every challenge or misstep as rocket fuel for growth. Instead of seeing a bad month or a bad fight as proof you won't succeed, choose to see an unfavorable outcome as exactly the thing that will forge you into the unstoppable fighter or business owner you're meant to be. Every setback is a setup for a comeback.

  5. Stay committed to your vision and potential no matter what. And I truly mean no matter what. An injury? No big deal. I’m bouncing back and healing faster than ever. An unexpected loss? The best thing that happened to me. This unwavering belief is what separates champions from everyone else.

  6. Get comfortable with the part of yourself that's actually uncomfortable with BIG success. Everyone dreams of being the big winner or big earner, but not everyone sits with the reality that there are things that scare them about winning. From perceived consequences of fame and public scrutiny to fear of having more to lose, once you demolish your fears of success, you'll actually allow it to flow to you.

  7. Release pressure off of being "the best" and instead focus on showing up most prepared, most confident, most calm, most locked in, and most resilient. This shift changes everything. The best football teams, golfers, soccer teams, basketball teams, lose all the time. When you control what you can control, the results take care of themselves.

  8. Instead of focusing on how to "beat an opponent" or "stand out from competitors," focus on what makes YOU the best you've ever been. So many of you are so focused on trying to measure up to and stand out from what's happening externally that you're missing out on owning who you are and what you're uniquely good at, which will ultimately be the thing that makes you most successful.

  9. Master a simple, consistent, low-effort mental routine that you do relentlessly at the start of every day. My client will also bring this routine into his training as needed. So many are so distracted by the fancy, complicated stuff in the online space (and in your sport) that you're sleeping on some massive long-term benefits of foundational mindset work. Taking care of your mindset is as simple as taking care of your teeth. Make sure to brush and floss consistently, and you'll be golden!

  10. Train your mind to stay present under pressure instead of getting lost in "what if" scenarios. My client doesn't waste mental energy on outcomes he can't control. When the lights are brightest and the stakes are highest, he stays locked into the current moment, the only moment where he has power. This presence under pressure is what turns good performers into legends.

If these mindset techniques resonate with you as an athlete or online business owner, I'd love to work with you to unlock your mental edge. Right now, I'm offering a BOGO deal for new clients throughout the end of July 2025 (or returning clients that haven’t worked with me in over a year!), making it even easier for those are you that have been thinking of working with to jump in!
